王東清曾申請專利 遭智慧局駁回

毒澱粉風暴越演越烈，最早被查出的中盤商協奇製粉廠供稱，多年前曾請王東清(即「王老師」)傳授化製澱粉。經濟部智慧財產局證實，王東清曾在2008年向智慧局申請食品用修飾澱粉的製造方法專利，不過，因申請人專利說明書未說明清楚成分比例以及與國外技術相近，智慧局以此駁回這項專利申請。

智慧局長王美花：『(原音)其中裡面的成分，描述比例不是很清楚，在專利法上叫做有不明確的問題；另一個就是它的成分，技術跟國外有些前案是比較接近，但是順丁烯二酸是不一樣，可是方法很接近，專利法上認為這沒有進步性，因為這2個理由駁回。』
