孕婦盲腸炎卻被摘掉卵巢　母子俱亡

英國32歲孕婦狄吉薩斯(Maria De Jesus)，因為嚴重腹痛住院檢查，醫師確診為急性盲腸炎，需要開刀摘除盲腸，但由於她已經是懷孕末期，手術時無法用眼睛確認盲腸位置，只能靠觸摸感覺，又剛好遇到經驗不足的實習醫師操刀，竟然錯摘了她的一邊卵巢，手術後8天醫院讓她出院回家，但又過6天她仍感到腹痛，再度入院，2天後孩子就流產，再過3天，迪吉薩斯就因為多重器官衰竭，病逝在同家醫院。

在第一次錯誤的手術後，醫師已經發現摘錯器官，但疏失報告直到手術後9天後才提出，那時她與腹內胎兒狀況已經十分危急。這起醫療疏失發生在2011年，目前仍再進行責任歸屬的調查。
