在5月中旬Google I/O 2013、以及在上周剛結束的蘋果WWDC 2013，均說明將針對旗下系統平台導入支援Bluetooth Smart技術的API內容，促使內容開發或配件設計能更快導入藍牙連接應用，而在Android與iOS兩大作業系統平台加持下，也將促使Bluetooth Smart技術應用加速成長。

目前在Bluetooth所制定技術規範中，主要區分為Bluetooth、Bluetooth Smart，以及Bluetooth Smart Ready三種規格，同時目前技術版本也已經跨入4.0階段，並且大量應用在不同硬體載具，諸如高階Android裝置、蘋果iOS裝置，甚至是Mac系列產品或常見筆電產品等。

就現行Bluetooth應用範圍，主要集中在無線控制配件、GPS導航配件、藍牙耳機或車用載具裝置等，而Bluetooth Smart則主要針對長時間運作，且具超低耗電特性的裝置，例如心脈偵測器、家庭監控系統、無線藍牙鍵盤或智慧型鑰匙等，至於Bluetooth Smart Ready則主要針對手機、平板或筆電所搭載元件所設計。

而在近期分別在Google I/O 2013，以及蘋果WWDC 2013期間，分別項開發者宣佈將於Android平台、iOS平台，及新版OS X平台中開放對應Bluetooth Smart技術的API內容，將進一步藉由平台市佔而使Bluetooth相關應用內容、配件產品加速成長。

根據先前Bluetoorh聯盟在WWDC 2013期間所宣佈消息，估計在2016年前將會有將近10億組對應Bluetooth Smart技術的配件產品出貨，同時目前Bluetooth Smart Ready技術也將廣泛應用在多項iOS、Mac與Android等產品。
