　　Activision Blizzard 曾在 2008 年 5 月宣稱因「商業因素」而脫離該協會，甚至從該年起連續六屆缺席美國 E3 電玩展盛會。Activision Blizzard 首席法務官 Chris Walther 對於能重新入會感到十分興奮並表示：「ESA 長久以來支持著該會會員及電玩遊戲產業，我們同時期盼未來能與會員們共同分享我們與眾不同的觀點和經驗。」

　　騰訊公司商業發展及產業關係部門總監 Gordon Bellamy 談到：「ESA 提供並建立會員相互支援所需平台，我們對於加入該協會感到相當興奮，並期盼藉此於未來探索更多市場機會。」

　　ESA於 1994 年成立，現今總部位於美國華盛頓，其會員皆為遊戲產業的領袖企業，其中包括微軟、美國任天堂（Nintendo of America）、索尼電腦娛樂美國分公司（SCEA）及其他知名遊戲開發商。在 Activision Blizzard 及騰訊確認入會後，總會員數也來到 37 個。

　　ESA 長久以來致力於遊戲機、PC 及網路遊戲發行商服務。但較具爭議的事蹟發生於 2011 年，經 ESA 律師團的「努力」，美國最高法院判決「加州禁售或禁止出租暴力遊戲給未成年人」為違憲行為。其中二位律師 Ken Doroshow 和 Paul M. Smith 更因此獲頒第 12 屆 Game Developers Choice Ambassador 獎項。
