Thomson Reuters 26日報導，德國工會Verdi呼籲亞馬遜(Amazon.com)德國萊比錫(Leipzig)地區物流中心員工自美東時間27日下午12時30分起進行為期一整天的罷工。這是繼5月14日(註：當天萊比錫地區有300名、Bad Hersfeld有600名參與罷工)之後，亞馬遜德國員工本月的第二度罷工。

亞馬遜在德國雇用約9千人，該公司因為不肯仿效其他郵購、零售企業與員工簽定集體協議而遭到Verdi批評。Verdi呼籲亞馬遜將德國萊比錫地區員工基本時薪自9.3歐元調高到10.66歐元；Bad Hersfeld地區員工基本時薪自9.83歐元調高到12.18歐元。

wsws.org 25日報導，德國電視媒體ARD在2月初報導，亞馬遜Bad Hersfeld物流中心出現剝削外國合約工人的情形。以2012年耶誕節期間為例，亞馬遜在德國就雇用了5千名外國合約工人，這些人被形容是「現代奴隸」。

根據英國廣告公司WPP Plc.所屬公司Millward Brown所編纂的2013年BrandZ全球前100大品牌排名，亞馬遜全球品牌排名第14名(進步4名)，價值成長34%至457.27億美元。
