智慧社區論壇今天在紐約頒發2013年全球智慧城市首獎，基礎建設完善、將科技與文化溫暖結合的台中市，獲得評審肯定，拿下首獎。

智慧社區論壇（Intelligent Community Forum）昨天才在歡迎酒會上頒發2013年全球7大智慧城市，其中桃園縣與台中市雙雙入選。今天台中市更上一層樓，獲得年度智慧城市首獎。

台中市政府副秘書長廖靜芝在電話訪問中表示，剛聽到大會宣布得獎城市時，第一個感覺是非常驚訝，畢竟台中才第2度入選前7大城市，其他幾個城市也都十分優異，「本來沒有期待今年就能拿下大獎的」。

廖靜芝很開心地說，過去並不特別感受到台中的進步與發展，直到站在國際舞台上，才知道原來台中是這麼優秀的城市。

她也透露，不少評審私下跟她表示，台中所以能出線，主要是對台中基礎建設處處可以看到綠化與文化的展現，也將冰冷的科技，以溫暖的方式與文化結合，幫助市民能有更高品質的生活環境，讓科技成為市民居住的好鄰居。
