廣闊的蒙古草原上，一群族人帶著象徵祖靈的旗幟騎馬漫遊，頂上落日閃耀光芒，為他們指出方向。這是詩人席慕蓉新書「寫給海日汗的廿一封信」封面照，象徵經過廿多年迷茫困惑，席慕蓉終於找到了靈魂原鄉，不再漂泊。

席慕蓉祖籍蒙古，生於四川、童年在香港度過、成長於台灣。「我想找一個原鄉，卻不知原鄉是什麼？」一九八九年，席慕蓉首次回到蒙古，此後，她開始一場漫長的原鄉探索。六年前，席慕蓉在個人官網寫下一篇篇對蒙古游牧文化的探索，今年她寫完文章「草原的價值」，決定將這系列文章結集成書。
