菲國中部震災 至少142人罹難

菲律賓國家減災風險管理委員會(National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council)證實，到今天(16日)下午，菲律賓中部強烈地震的罹難人數已經暴增至142人。然而，搜救人員目前仍在為挺進被孤立災區而努力，預估死亡人數還會上升。

國家減災風險管理委員會發言人巴利多(Reynaldo Balido)說，今天的救災努力聚焦於挺進孤立社區，因為懷疑有人受困，所以必須執行搜救任務。

菲律賓民答那峨島北方的薄荷島(Bohol island)15日上午發生芮氏規模7.1強震。薄荷島與相鄰的宿霧島(Cebu)受到重創，地震摧毀了具有數百年歷史的教堂、橋樑和道路，並引發山崩掩埋房屋，島上電力供應中斷。

根據報導，這兩座島嶼上共有10座教堂被摧毀或嚴重受損。這些教堂大多是西班牙殖民時期所興建的。

薄荷島與宿霧島因為擁有古老教堂和潔淨海灘，而深受觀光客喜愛。
