NCAA大學籃球沒有存在必要？小牛老闆Mark Cuban又有驚人之語，叫那些高中畢業想進NBA、進大學過水一年的球員，直接去打發展聯盟。

「這樣就不必生活在NCAA的愚昧之下，」Cuban說，「NCAA沒有存在的理由。沒有。」

NBA規定，高中生畢業後，必須等一年、且年滿19歲後，才能進來打職籃。因此，不少高中生跑去大學打一年球就棄學，加入NBA。在Cuban眼中，這只是浪費時間，不如早點來打發展聯盟。

「NCAA的規定實在太偽善了！要進職籃的高中畢業生，絕對沒理由去大學，他既不會去上課，一年級生也沒有太多上場機會。所以，來打發展聯盟吧！」Cuban說。

「別再裝啦！大部分的大學、學院，都假裝把這些過水球員，視為學生運動員，但你我都知道，這是天大的謊言。這些球員來打發展聯盟的話，我們可以不必顧慮NCAA那套規定，而是把個人放第一。」

這個想法並非Cuban臨時起意，他認真思考不同層面的問題，並提出解決之道。在他的規劃裡，如果高中畢業生真的來打發展聯盟，也不會完全荒廢學業，他打算請老師個別指導這些球員，讓球員不會「除了籃球、一事無成」。

「我們得培養球員，讓他們更成熟，這也是過程的一部分。把孩子帶來這裡，不能棄之不理。」

Cuban強調，這是個人意見，不代表聯盟說法。但他的遣詞用字相當強烈，後續效應值得注意。
