巴爾的摩金鶯隊台灣左投陳偉殷近2戰表現不理想，難免讓人聯想到他是否像去年一樣，遇到下半季撞牆期的問題，而他將於8日凌晨1時先發出戰芝加哥白襪，他不僅要證明自己能夠及時回復狀況，此外屆時他將面臨白襪打線，包括剋星凱平格(Jeff Keppinger)的強大挑戰。

過去2場比賽，陳偉殷共只投7.2局，雖投出10次三振，卻也有8次四壞保送，且有11分自責分，防禦率高達13.75，就算明星賽前幾天才歸隊，至今無間斷投10場先發，外界仍有「殷仔」遇到體力調節問題的疑慮。上週金鶯技術性下放小聯盟，大聯盟卻要他照著小聯盟行程跑，結果造成舟車勞頓，反而更累。

經過一星期的調整，陳偉殷8日再出發，將於主場迎戰白襪，這是今年雙方首度對戰，去年曾交手兩次，殷仔取得1勝0敗，防禦率2.38的成績；白襪將派出左投桑提亞哥(Hector Santiago)先發，他本季防禦率3.43，但戰績只有4勝8敗。

面對白襪打線，陳偉殷首要注意的就是去年待在光芒隊，本季轉至白襪隊發展的凱平格，他雖然本季打擊率僅2成44，不過去年與陳偉殷對戰11個打數有5支安打，並包辦2分打點。比較有利的是，凱平格本季對戰左投打擊率剩下2成08。

金鶯隊也急需要陳偉殷的崛起，目前74勝65敗，在外卡排名第4，距離安全門檻，第二名的光芒還有3場勝差，而且日前還被洋基超越，後有印地安人與皇家隊為追兵，若這位左投沒能夠振作，對戰績無疑是一大損傷。去年金鶯能進季後賽，陳偉殷占相當重要的因素。
