歐巴馬將提名葉連出任聯準會新任主席

白宮表示，美國總統歐巴馬將於當地時間星期三下午3時，提名現任聯準會副主席、67歲的葉連出任新一屆聯準會主席，葉連有望成為第一位聯準會女主席，接替明年1月底任期屆滿的現任主席伯南克。

葉連一向主張以積極措施降低失業率，相信她上任後的主要挑戰，是如何將美國從金融危機採取的措施，逐步回復至正常步伐。

民主黨資深參議員舒默認為，葉連是個出色的人選，預計她會以壓倒性的優勢，獲得參議院批准。聯準會主席一職，需要由總統提名及國會通過，而國會的第一道門檻是參議院銀行委員會。
