對上紅雀王牌韋恩萊特

〔自由時報記者郭羿婕／綜合報導〕海盜苦等21年才闖進季後賽，這股感動能否延續到國聯冠軍戰，全賭在23歲菜鳥柯爾身上，他將主投台灣時間今早8時的分區賽第5戰，在紅雀主場對上19勝王牌韋恩萊特，勝者將與道奇進行冠軍賽。

2011年選秀狀元柯爾投打俱佳，6月才嘗到大聯盟初登板滋味，菜鳥年收下10勝（7敗），在系列賽第2場包辦勝投及勝利打點。這場關鍵戰役僅是他生涯第2次在季後賽登板，他有信心迎接高壓挑戰，「我準備好了，等不及要上場。」

紅雀過去3年在季後賽殊死戰拿下7勝1敗，並派出韋恩萊特搶勝，他在分區賽首場先發7局只掉1分，表現搶眼。
