Lottery winner takes home NT$1.25 billion

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- A lucky individual who played Taiwan's Super Lotto in Tainan last night won NT$1.25 billion, the fourth-biggest single jackpot in Taiwan's history as well as the third-biggest single jackpot in 2013.
Taiwan's Super Lotto last night finally came up with a winner after its 23 previous draws failed to produce a first-prize winner. The first-prize winner bought the lucky lottery ticket in Yujing District, Tainan City and became a billionaire overnight. The winner will take home an after-tax jackpot of NT$1 billion.
The winning numbers that did it were 07, 12, 25, 31, 34 and 36, plus the supplementary number 05.
Super Lotto last night also produced single second prize of nearly NT$37.61 million.
Since its launch on January 22, 2008, Super Lotto has given out 38 first prizes to 44 winners and a first prize is won every 2.8 months on average.
According to Taiwan Lotto Company, 66 percent of the winners who have won over NT$5 million are men, with the majority (32 percent) failing within 50-59 age group.
