光芒隊投手David Price第二戰表現不佳，賽後暴怒發言，付出「代價」。他罵記者是書呆子、又批評紅襪老爹David Ortiz全壘打慢慢跑。系列賽第三戰開打前，Price道歉。

那場比賽Price投7局被敲9安、包括老爹雙響砲、掉7分吞敗。賽後媒體訪問時，Price碎碎唸著「真是個好問題啊，書呆子！」

老爹的第二支全壘打靠近邊線，因此Ortiz站在打擊區，直到確定球掉在界內，才開始跑壘。這一幕，也讓Price不爽。「Ortiz一出棒，我就知道是界內了，」Price說，「給我快點跑！」

這些「見笑轉生氣」的言論，為Price帶來批評，經過兩天，他平靜下來，向各界致歉。

「我已經向Ortiz致意過了，」Price說，「我告訴他，有多麼尊敬他，老爹在這一行的地位崇高。我還跟他說，他是佼佼者之一，願意在賽前花時間跟球迷寒喧、簽名，也願意花時間跟我的雙親聊天，我真的很尊敬他這樣的人。」

除了向老爹道歉外，Price還要向記者說對不起：「我做了那樣的事，真的窘斃了。我要向每位被波及的人致歉。」

另一位當事人Ortiz，也希望風波落幕。「我跟Price談過了，」老爹說，「這件事結束了。」
