日本媒體報導，蘋果 (Apple)(AAPL-US) 推出的新一代搭載 Retina (視網膜) 等級螢幕的 7.9 吋平板產品 iPad mini，因面板供應吃緊，已向三星 (Samsung)(005930-KR) 求援。但問題是得等到明年才能加入供應，恐緩不濟急。

美國科技網站《CNET》引述《日本經濟新聞》上週五 (1 日) 報導指出，Retina 版 iPad mini 目前有 2 家簽約的面板供應商：南韓的 LGD (樂金顯示)(034220-KR) 及日商夏普 (Sharp)(6753-JP)，但根據面板分析公司 DisplaySearch 日本分部消息，目前僅 LGD 一家能成功生產出供應的產品。

不僅如此，DisplaySearch 日本表示，即便 LGD 也非全無困難，據悉「距離全產能還遙遠」。有鑑於此，蘋果據稱現在正轉向智慧手機市場對手兼南韓另家面板大廠三星，以尋求供貨支援。

不過報導指出，等到三星準備好提供 Retina 版 iPad mini 面板充分供應量時，已經是明年的事了。《CNET》認為，這意味第二代 iPad mini 供應短缺的問題，恐怕比蘋果原本預期還要嚴重。
